This won’t last for long, there will be no insurance companies left. Then the government will decide who lives and dies.

  3. Cookie Monster says:

My rep explained to me that the mandates are being run through the tax code for the purpose of getting around the unconsitutionality of it. He said that since the tax codes are constitutional, everything in the code is likewise considered constitutional
The whole thing is just appalling and they are done in November

Not sure John, perhaps you can explain this a bit more.

Medicare funds go to private insurers for supplemental coverage. The IRS enforces payroll taxes for Medicare. I’m not saying it’s right, but there is a precedent.

  6. Dem Spin says:

You will just have to prove your insurance, simple , if you can’t prove it the IRS will fine you and take it from your tax refund.

    Simple

  7. Scott says:

There is already a method in place for this for states that have “no-fault” auto insurance. The insurance companies will be required to furnish proof to the fed that you are paying for insurance.

Magically, however, the extra work the insurance companies will have to do will make insurance more affordable for consumers. Isn’t pixie dust wonderful?

The IRS is Democrat Obama’s SS. Hitler was head of the German SOCIALIST Party. A left wing organization that just like the US Democrat Party took over the banking, auto & health care industries.

  9. Enzyte Bob 9.0 says:

What’s happened here goes beyond insurance.
It’s about insurance being taken over by the government and having their behavior mandated by the government for the purpose of making them go bankrupt by making coverage for all

Their job is to collect money owed to the US government period not to make sure we have paid a bill.

Has the IRS ever been used like this before?
    >>
Yes, in fact if you ever take Economics 101 they will talk about what is called pigovian tax which has been used quite a bit throughout history in various ways. The basic premise is that you tax people to encourage or discourage some sort of behavior as opposed to making it specifically illegal. Typically its not done through income tax, but it has been done this way before. It has been done a lot, especially directly taxing some sort of product – and yes it has been contested to the supreme court before, its perfectly within the confines of the constitution.

  12. Micronimus T. Picklefeathers says:

The “liberals” wanted single payer or a public option. It’s the corporate puppets in Congress who compromised the bill into what we have now. That includes the republicans, as they and the blue dogs were the ones who pretended to have so many problems with the original bills.

  13. T J says:

That portion of the law isn’t slated to take effect until 2014. I’m quite sure it will get amended and re-amended many times before then.
