I don't think you can get back any of the money you owed someone that was being garnisheed after it's been taken, you can only have the ongoing contract stopped. You also seem to be saying you've declared bankruptcy before. You should seek help. You have a problem of some sort. Even if your bankruptcy was caused by unexpected illness, you need to learn to plan better.

I have no idea why they would say that, you had a legal order for garnishment and it was stoped when you filed bankruptcy.
The money paid pior to filing bankruptcy does not get paid back, it was legally owed money and legally gotten.

If you owed on your credit card you don't get the last few payments you made paid back????

People are giving you silly advice

It may be a preference: a payment to one creditor (favoring him over others) during the 90-day period prior to bankruptcy.

Have a look at the Nolo Press book on bankruptcy http://www.nolo.com which you may find in your library, or the NCLC guide for lawyers, which your county law library may have (if not they'll have another treatise).

I assume you filed pro se, or your lawyer would have advised you. The whole point of having a lawyer is to avoid losing out on exemptions and rights.

As assets of the Estate go to the trustee, whether recovered funds go to you depends on their falling within your exemptions.
