How does wage garnishment work?

Someone I sued in small claims said he would file for bankruptcy back in February. The bankruptcy court nor I have heard a word about it, so I’m pretty sure he either hasn’t gotten around to it yet (typical!) or found a way to avoid it. I have wage garnishment papers. What happens if he claims bankruptcy after I serve wage garnishment papers?

BTW – all y’all’s answers have been SO great! Thank you for taking the time to help me!

if you serve garnishment papers before he files bankruptcy it
