How should I handle a major tax problem that has evolved over a ten year period.?
Several years ago my life did a 180 with both mental and physical illnesses. I went from a happily married small business owner to a divorced individual who couldn’t hold a job for more than 9 months. My mental and physical health continued to decline. I just didn’t care about anything, including my bills and taxes. I stopped filling out my tax returns even though I qualified for a return each year. Now, ten years later I am trying to put my life back together. I am starting from scratch so I don’t have any savings to work with. My question is should I approach the IRS on my own about my problem? Or should I contact one of the many tax companies that you see advertised on TV guaranteeing to save you large sums of money for assistance?
