If I get married, will my back taxes become the responsibility of my new husband?
Will the IRS be able to take his house or his business because of my tax issues?
,,My ex husband owes back taxes he got into trouble when we were married this happened almost 20 years ago? ,If I get married, do I become responsible for back taxes my new husband owes? ,My husband said he never recieved his money back from his taxes last year before we got married what do we do? ,My husband owes back taxes from before we were married, will I still get a rebate check? ,Can the irs take my refund , if my husband owes back taxes, and I filed married filing seperate? ,Comments (3)
You’ll need to file separately in order to save him from becoming responsible for your tax debt. You’ll lose the benefit of joint filing, but that’s often a smaller price to pay for taxpayers with large individual tax debts who enter into marriage.
Hope that helps. :0)
The IRS will penalize your joint tax return, and if you don’t pay they can and sometimes do take his return if you file married filing separately.
Not if you file seperately.
