In wisconsin can I legally force my employer to pay me in cash (after taxes) instead of a payroll check?

Basically what I am looking to do is have them take out all the deductions that they usually would on a payroll check, but then have them pay me in cash. I do not have nor do i want a bank account so Direct Deposit is not an option.

A little background on the reason i am asking this question. I was supposed to receive my payroll check on January 1, 2010 but due to offices and banks being closed I did not get it until January 5. Bit of a bummer after christmas but I got over it. Unannounced to me my employer changed company’s that print the checks and WalMart will not cash it, because it lacks some security features. The check is from Bank Of America and there isn’t one of those for 1000 miles. So without paying a very high fee to an independent check cashing service, or opening a bank account and waiting 9 – 14 bus. days to get my money, I basically have a 1000 dollar piece of paper.
no scheme here, Im not looking to evade taxes or anything like that. Just pay me cash instead of a check.
The main reason I do not like banks is because I have been burn twice by banks. One Time was at a different employer where my payroll check bounced costing me a lot of money in bank charges. And the other time I used my debit card for a paypal transaction and lost 5000 because somehow my card number was used for purchases in south america by someone. I eventually got that money back but not without having to sell my motorcycle just to make rent and utilities in the mean time.

I just think that there should be some law that says if you request it your employer should pay you cash instead of a check. There has to be some kind of discrimination case out there on this. If a store does not have to accept a check as payment, why should you have to accept a check as payment from your employer.

I would really like to have some imput from a legal professional here

    It is not cash but it is close and electronic so no missing checks, no bounced checks and no banks! Good Luck.

    YES you can make them pay you in cash but ONLY if they do not have a local financial institution that will cash the payroll checks with NO COST TO YOU…….
    who is the employers local bank?
    it does not matter what bank the paycheck is drawn on, the employers local bank will cash your payroll check…..
    if there is not a local bank that will cash the payroll check free of any charges then the employer does have to pay you in cash or some other means that is free of any cost to you and does NOT restrict your ability to access the funds. (such as direct deposit or debit card)

    talk to your employer and ask where they bank at and have arrangements made for you….this is not optional the employer must provide a way for you to be paid at NO cost to you.

    the problem you have is, in Wisconsin it is legal for the employer to mandate direct deposit……… this solves the pay-check issue……. the use of direct deposit has to be without cost to you. so if the employer has a bank that will open an account for you with no cost incurred then the employer would be in compliance…. the fact that you don’t want to have an account is not relevant. you would have this account for the sole purpose of having the direct deposit and then you could immediately withdrawal all your funds………. if the bank does not have such an account then the employer would not be in complaince…..
