₪₪₪ My 2009 tax return is being held! I want REAL answers?
I received a letter dated Jan 27 2010 today. It was from the IRS and they informed me that my refund was on hold. The reason that it was held is because of a high amount for federal withheld taxes. I used Tax brain to file my taxes on my own. When I e-filed on TB, my fed withholding was suppose to be $496.00 but instead it was transposed as $4,960! I didn’t discover the error until I had submitted my refund. I contacted TB chat and was instructed that my return would be rejected. They told me to wait for the rejection so that I could correct the fed amount. To my surprise my return was accepted!!! I called the IRS and they kept telling me that it was being processed and that there was nothing that I could do. The letter states that there is nothing for me to do at this time but I already know what mistake needs correcting. I called IRS today and spoke w/ a REP about the letter. She said that it could be months before I received my refund. Is that true? I requested an advocate through IRS because I needed my refund to pay my medical bills. I have cancer and really need my refund to replenish my depleted account. I have two young sons and the stress is mounting. Is there anything that I can do to push the correct info through to the IRS? What options do I have for moving this process along? Can I re-file or amend at this point? Any info will help and I will chose a best answer! Thanks!
