₪₪₪ Owing back taxes to IRS, what rules are in place to stop liens against social security disability payments?

I was on a payment plan to pay my back taxes and got an extention granted by the IRS. A month prior to the extention due date, I was removed from the payment plan and late fees and penalties were accessed. Now a notice of a lien being applied has been sent to me.
