POLL: What do you think of my Economic Recovery Plan?
Here’s what I think we ought to do, to get the U.S. Economy back on track:
–Re-work the $700 Billion bailout plan, and *clarify that this is a one-shot deal*. Make it simple enough for a High School Freshman to understand, and sell it to the voters as Job Preservation.
–Then…send out another $700 Billion…to *Every* Adult Citizen in America. Divided some 200 Million ways, that amounts to a one-shot stimulus check of $3500 apiece. And just so we are clear, this is how you would do it.
Send out a post card with exactly *three* Questions:
1) Are you, [name here] at least 19 years of age or older? Check Yes or No. Yes ____ No ____
2) Are you a Citizen of these United States who is *Registered to Vote*? Check the answer that applies to you:
Yes, I am, I am Registered to Vote in [print your State, County, Township, and District in the space that follows] ________________
_________________________________________________________
No, I am not Registered to Vote in the United States. ____
I am not sure/do not understand the Question. ____ (for all purposes, this would be the same as a “No”)
3) Is the Mailing Address on this Postcard *Your* Current Mailing Address? If so, check Yes, otherwise, check No and fill in *YOUR* current Mailing Address:
Yes, it is ____
No, This is my Mailing Address: ________________

Simple, right? Bail out the Banks, *and also* ordinary American citizens. Do not involve the IRS. Do not ask burdensome Questions. Just do the damned thing *for everyone*, top down and bottom up at the same time.
And just so we are clear, the money should be *free cash* top and bottom as well. No State or Federal Income taxes on the $3500, no penalties from the IRS, Social Security or Public Housing Administrations for poor folks who get this money. No conditions, no strings attached, and *no added Spikes In Inflation either* on the part of Big Business. Just make sure everyone understands–the Banks too–that this is a *One Shot Deal.* Happening Once In A Lifetime.
For. Everyone. Rich and Poor alike, and everyone in between.
Consider this a Pre-Emptive Settlement out of Court….for ordinary Citizens being *taxed* these past eight years and only getting *minimal* Representation, if any at all.
What say you? Could this work? What would you change?
Thank you kindly for your time. ^_^
Perhaps it is a way for “the government to get money”, but in the immediate short-term it would ramp up the debt by some $1.4 trillion.
The government only gets paid off in the long-run–as do we all–when the economy *doesn’t* go bonk and instead has some growth and expansion again.
That’s rather the point. If you just pay off the banks, the average voter will be pissed off at having to shoulder the burden of the rich man’s mistakes–again, just like with the S&L bailout of the late 1980s. If you just bail out poor folks, people will still lose jobs, homes, and more as Big Business throws a hissy fit and *spikes prices* up into outer space to compensate.
The only way this can work is if we help everyone, top to bottom and bottom to top. If we just let it all go bankrupt, well…your One Percenters take the money and run. Imagine the economic equivalent to White Flight happening to a whole *nation*.

it is a good one….
Just another way for the government to get money
I think they should let the companies go belly up, they pushed it to the limit without caring what would happen and they knew this would be the result, let them fry, if they want to blow 700bil, give it to us directly and let us use it to help ourselves. When you invest in the stock market your are gambling and know that there is a chance for loss, no one goes in blind.
