The Stimulus Tax rebate, will I not receive it if I owe $5 from my taxes this year?

is it based on 2007 or 2008?

I was late in paying $5 I owed for Federal. Will this cause me to not get my stimulus rebate? I sent in last week, any idea when I might get my bush return (stimulus rebate) ?

Thanks to all for insight!

They will subtract the $5 and any interest/penalty owed and send you the rest.

The rebate is based on your 2007 tax return if it’s filed by 10/15/2008. There will be a 2nd chance worksheet on the 2008 return.

They’d take out the $5 and send you the rest of your stimulus payment. If you mean you just sent in your RETURN last week it’ll probably be at least 2-3 months.

It is based on your filing of 2007 taxes.

They will deduct any unpaid taxes from the rebate, then send you the balance.

Check the IRS web site for the schedule of payment dates, and whether or not you will receive a paper check or direct deposit.

You are going to receive it. They are going to deduct $ 5. Here is the link http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180250,00.html

If you just turned in your taxes it could be a few months before you recieve anything but they might just subtract what ever you owe at that time and send you the rest if there is something left over.
