₪₪₪ was I taxed incorrectly on my IRA distribution?
In 2007, I withdrew 40K from my IRA rollover. A couple of weeks later I contributed 32K to that account. Recently I received an IRS notice telling me I owe tax on $40K (plus interest and penalty). Shouldn’t I have been taxed on only 8K?
