₪₪₪ Will the IRS REMOVE my tax lien ?
I know, its going to be released. But I want it REMOVED if possible.
Here is why. They never even attempted to make contact with me to alert me of their intent to levy. (They had a bad address)
Out of the blue, they emptied 2 bank accounts back in Oct and said I owed them over $600k.
Clearly, I did not but I did not file for many years.
So I got with the program and filled ALL my back taxes and just today found out that they are sending me a refund and releasing the tax lien.
We had filed for an administrative hearing back in Nov. but they never got back with us and now my taxes are caught up.
There is precedent for this kind of thing when the IRS does not even attempt to find a good address as they failed to do with me.
Appreciate any suggestions.
My credit score took an 88 point hit. Now that its released, I suspect some of that will come back but not as much as if any trace of it were removed.
Is that likely ?
Should I call a taxpayer advocate ? Someone else ?
I think I showed good faith in immediately filing 07,08 & 09 and then catching up 01-06 shortly thereafter. It would have been even quicker but we kept waiting to hear from the IRS and they didn’t return calls.
I guess what Im asking is it worth fighting for if I can do it myself and is it reasonably likely ?
Thanks
PS, I really didn’t owe them much money at all. Mostly penalties.

Easier Lien Withdrawals
The IRS agreed to modify procedures that will make it easier for taxpayers to obtain lien withdrawals. Liens will now be withdrawn once full payment of taxes is made if the taxpayer requests it. In order to speed the process, the IRS will streamline its internal procedures to allow collection personnel to withdraw the liens.
